Day 4 began while we were sleeping like kittens. It was great to lay on a bed. We awoke and ate cold pizza which was amazing. Day 3 had been a tough day. The end, with the hill and seeing friends was great, but riding in the rain and cold was harsh. It was one of those moments for me where I have to grit my teeth and say, this mile is sponsored (I hope) and whatever I do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus giving thanks to God the Father through him (Col 3:17). I said those things to myself a lot.
Day 4 was going to be different. We left the Edgewater Hotel and Waterpark and headed North. The goal on this day was 80 miles ending in Tofte, Minnesota. The sun was kinda shining, and the weather was brisk.
We were heading for Scenic 61.
Thankfully my vision wasn't this blurry.
Dear friends, if you have not driven up the north shore, DO SO. It is hard to believe you are still in Minnesota.
Want a crazy experience, drive a bike through a tunnel! It is LOUD.
We got to ride through 2.
These pictures are not in order... I have forgotten the order and since they came from 2 cameras, it is a bit confusing.
Can you find the little people in this picture?
There is a lighthouse in the background of this one.
It rained on us and we had to seek shelter in a bike path tunnel (under the road). It ended up sprinkling a couple times just enough to get us wet after we had dried. Super frustrating but not as bad as day 3!
Who doesn't want to live in Castle D-D-Danger?
God has made so many beautiful places! This is one of them!
Two Harbors
I know how these things go, to you, each picture looks roughly the same, but to me, it has a story, a story that I can't write because no one would read it! Perhaps the rest of these are for my memories, but I think you'd enjoy them as well.
5 Mile Rock
There is a sign that points to it. I personally don't get it.
In the end, we made it to Bluefin Bay in Tofte, Minnesota. We had been there before 14 years 2 months and 5 days earlier... for our honeymoon. That was our first trek to the North Shore and it has brought us back on a few occasions.
81.91 miles complete! Tomorrow is the last day, I can't believe it. It has been overall very encouraging today. The beautiful scenery has blown our minds.
This post has been huge, but I can't end without asking for your support. We are standing at $8,437! That is 703 miles of the 890 we need sponsored! Can you help?
